Hire a professional DM for your games !

Why hire a DM?

Fantasy and science fiction has known a surge of popularity over the last few years and what was once a cult genre has become part of the mainstream media and culture.

Through the influence of shows such as Stranger Things and celebrities such as Vin Diesel and Joe Manganiello, Dungeons & Dragons and roleplaying games in general have enjoyed their own share of increased popularity. Online streaming shows such as Critical Role have only added to the hype and have attracted many new people to the hobby.

Maybe you are one of those people? Or maybe you have played before (in college perhaps?) and are looking to get back in to the hobby after a hiatus? You might even be a tabletop gaming veteran who has been playing for decades. In the end it doesn’t really matter.

Preparing and running a game can be quite time-consuming. Even running a printed adventure takes a few hours of reading and preparing notes. Life is busy. Everyone has a demanding job, especially in a city such as New York.

Finding players isn’t always easy either. A group of three or four people is fine but if one needs to be the DM, you are one player down.

That is why hiring a DM is a good idea. It frees up your time and fills up your group with one extra player.

In addition to these benefits you also get an experienced DM who wants nothing more than to give you and your friends an experience you will truly enjoy and will be talking about for many weeks, months or even years.

If you are interested, please send me a message using the contact form below and we can see if I am the DM for your game.

Who am I ?

Hello, my name is Robin.
I am a big fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy and I have been running and playing roleplaying games for over 17 years.

I started way back in 2002 when I was still in high school. I discovered a local game store and started playing Magic the Gathering. It wasn’t long until I was introduced to roleplaying and I started running a d&d 3rd edition game not long thereafter.

I think I have come a long way since then. I have DM’ed 6 editions of d&d as well as about all World of Darkness games (both classic and new) and some newer games such as FATE and the 2d20 system as well.

I am sure that my years of experience with various games and people will help me make your game a lot more fun and stress free for you.

Ourborros: a little tip

It is up to you to choose the game and/or adventure you want me to run.

If you aren’t certain however, I may have a little tip for you.

Ourborros is a fantasy setting I have developed myself over the past decade. I have run several successful campaigns in this world using d&d 4e and 5e. Furthermore, my website (www.ourborros.com) will offer support for my own world in the form of lore videos, background stories etc… I am also working on a PDF (and maybe print) setting book filled with information on the world and a creature guide with monsters and adversaries of my own creations. I have also developed several adventures which I have run at conventions such as GenCon and others on multiple occasions.

If you don’t have a game and setting you really want to play, I suggest asking me to run a homebrew  d&d 5e campaign in my own world, Ourborros. It is the setting I know best and am the most comfortable with and I believe it really shows in my games.

Rates, locations and materials

DM’ing is a hobby for me. As such I have deliberately kept my rates low. I love running games and don’t want anything keeping you from loving the games I run.

I charge $15/hour for standard games such as d&d and Pathfinder.

For new or more complex games I ask $20/hour.

How you split the cost among your group is up to you.

I live in NYC (Manhattan) and as such will only run games In Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Depending on the location in Brooklyn and Queens I might have to charge an additional $15 travel expenses.

I don’t have a dedicated location to run games. I will come to your home or we can meet in one of NYC’s many public locations. I usually run games at Whole Foods café’s. Easy access to food and drinks is perk on these locations and some have nice large tables.

I don’t provide materials for your game. You will need your own set of dice and books. I will make sure I have all that I need to run the game.
